Runners Information

Thank you for entering the 43rd Annual Belmar Five Mile Run.  The race will be held Rain or Shine.

Please check your bib for correct info for your name, age and gender.  Pre-race bib and packet  pickup and late registration will be available during the hours and locations below: 

Race Week Pickup/Registration Schedule (Physical Bib required for Pickup): 
           THURSDAY (JULY 11) 6 pm - 8 pm

           FRIDAY (JULY 12) 6 pm - 8 pm
           SATURDAY (JULY 13) STARTING AT 6:30 am.

T-Shirts and Tote Bags  - Every pre-race entrant in the five mile race will receive a t-shirt.  Important: You must bring your actual race number bib with you to pick-up your shirt and other items.  NO EXCEPTIONS. Shirt size ordered will be the size given. NO EXCEPTIONS. T-shirts will be available for post/late registered runners while supplies last.  We will have a shirt exchange on race day at the post/late registration tent on race day from 10 am to 10:30 am while supplies last.  Runners are encouraged to pick up their packet and shirt before race day to avoid security-related delays.  Packets and T-shirts must be picked up by 10:30 am race day, after which shirts will be given to Volunteers.  NO EXCEPTIONS, NO MAILINGS.  Commemorative Tote bags are guaranteed to the first 2,000 pre-registered runners.

Race Numbers (Bib) - Your race number is enclosed, with a timing tag (B-Tag) affixed to the of the back race number. Do not remove the tag.  Be sure to bring your bib number to the race.  You must wear your race bib to be allowed on the race course.  Be sure your bib is clearly visible on the front  of your torso, uncovered, unaltered or unmodified and pinned in all four corners.  You must wear the race bib and B-Tag or you will not be scored or receive and accurate time.  If lost, bring a copy of your registration confirmation email or cancelled check.  Make sure you are only wearing the B-tag for this event: you will be disqualified for wearing a timing tag from another race.

Transfer Program: If you are no longer able to participate in the race, do not simply give your bib to someone. Send an email to: to request the official transfer form to transfer your entry to a friend or colleague. It is important for all runners to note that the race must have the proper information of the person that will be running in the race for Homeland Security and First Aid identification. There is a $5 transfer fee. Using another person's bib number without a formal transfer will result in both runners being banned from future events.

Information / Problems - Check at the “HELP” desk, Silver Lake Park.

Directions - From the Garden State Parkway: Take Exit 98, Route 195/138 East. Take Route 35 North to 16th Avenue. Turn right onto 16th Avenue, heading east. Turn left onto Ocean Avenue, and head north to 5th Avenue. (use 501 Ocean Avenue for GPS)

Parking -  Arrive early - Allow extra time as parking is limited.  There will be restricted parking along the race course.  There will be no parking on Ocean Ave between 6th Avenue and the BeImar-Avon  Bridge. The bridge will be raised and the roadway closed at 7 am on race day. Obey all parking rules.  Metered parking will be enforced.  Please be courteous and do not block driveways.  You may also park at the Bar Anticipation lot on 16th Avenue.  Courtesy Shuttles will bring runners back and forth to Silver Lake Park, before and after the race.

Restrooms – All boardwalk restrooms will be open at 7 am. Port-O-Johns are located in Silver Lake Park.

Water - There will be four water stops on the course, as well as in Silver Lake Park.  Be sure you are well hydrated prior to, during and after the race.  Racing in warm weather can be dangerous if you do not use good judgment.  Be careful.  If you feel overheated, slow down.  No race is worth physical injury. 

The Start - 8:30 am start. All Runners must cross the starting line mats on Ocean Avenue to get an be accurate finish time.  The start is located on Ocean Avenue at 2nd Avenue.  Please move to the starting area at 8:15 am. Please position yourself at the starting area according to your expected finish time and pace!

Safety & Security - For the safety of all, there will be enhanced security at this year’s race. No backpacks will be allowed. Pay attention to all race signage: “KEEP OUT” means “KEEP OUT”. Bib numbers must be visible on all participants. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all Belmar 5 runners, baby joggers/strollers, roller blades, in-line skates, skateboards, dogs and bicycles are prohibited in the race.  The course is restricted to registered runners, wheelchair division athletes and official race personal. The use of Headphones/Ear Buds is not permitted.  You need to be able to hear instructions from Police, Homeland Security, First Aid and Race Officials.  Any runner viewed on camera crossing the finish line wearing headphones/ear buds will be subject to disqualification.

First Aid - Belmar First Aid will be located at the Finish Line. Your safety is our first concern - please run safely and run smart. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded - STOP.  Look for a course marshal for assistance.   In addition, the course will be monitored by local First Aid squads.  .

Timing / Finish / Results - Clocks are located at every mile. Only registered runners are allowed into the finishing chutes.  Preliminary results will be posted on race day at the conclusion of the awards ceremony. A link for online results can be found or

Race Day Refreshments - Complimentary post-race refreshments for all registrants will be available in Silver Lake Park.  Please be considerate of the other runners and only take what you need.  Refreshments are for runners only!

Awards Ceremony - Medals will be presented at the end of the finish area to all official finishers.  An awards presentation and random giveaways will be held at the gazebo in Silver Lake Park, beginning at approx. 10 am.  Awards will be given to the first five men and women finishers, top 3 male and female in age groups as well as the first male and female wheel chair and Full-Time Belmar residents.  Awards will not be mailed.  If you are not able to attend the ceremony, please make every effort to have someone pickup your award.  E-mail us after the race for a possible alternate award pickup location.  Team Awards will take place at Bar Anticipation on 16th Avenue at 1:00 pm.

Kid’s Races - Online Registration for the Kid's Race is still open, click here to pre-register at  On Friday Evening, registration for kids’ races will be in Silver Lake Park, Ocean Ave, near Fifth Avenue, beginning at 5:30 pm. The Kids’ Races start at 6:30 pm, followed by fireworks!
