In consideration of accepting this entry, I, the participant, intending to be legally bound and hereby waive or release the Goodwill Hose Company, Jersey Shore Running Club, Belmar, Spring Lake and Lake Como Boroughs, the Belmar Five, the Event Director, RunSignUp.com, and all of their officers and agents assisting with the event, all sponsors, their representatives and successors, including the Road Runners Club of America, its officers, directors, agents and employees from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising from my participation in this event even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. This release includes all injuries and/or damages suffered by me or my personal property before, during or after the event. I recognize, intend and understand that this release is binding on my heirs, executors, administrators, or assignees.

I know that participation in a running in and volunteering for organized group runs, social events and races are potentially hazardous activities that could cause injury or death.  I should not enter and participate in any organized events, group training runs or social events unless I am medically able and properly trained.  I agree that my participation is completely voluntary and I assume all risks associated with running in this event including, but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of weather, traffic, and course conditions, and waive any and all claims which I might have based on any of those and other risks typically found in participation in a road race. I acknowledge all such risks are known and understood by me. I agree to abide by all decisions of any race official relative to my ability to safely complete the Event. I certify by my signature to enter this Event, that I am physically fit and sufficiently trained for the completion of this event and that a licensed Medical Doctor has verified my physical condition.

By entering this event, I agree to engage in fair and ethical competition at all times, observe and obey all rules governing this event.  I understand and will abide by the rules that the course is restricted to registered runners, wheelchair division athletes & official race personnel and that bicycles, baby joggers/strollers, roller blades, in-line skates, skateboards, animals, backpacks and personal music players are prohibited in the event and will be removed from the race course.  In the interest of safety of all participants, volunteers, residents and race personnel, there is a 90 minute time limit for the Five Mile Run (18 min/mile pace maximum). Runners may be instructed to leave the course and, if needed, transportation to the finish will be provided. If runners proceed it will be at their own risk, support may not be available along the way and they will not be scored. 

In the event of an illness, injury or medical emergency arising during this event I hereby authorize and give my consent to the Event Director to secure from any accredited hospital, clinic and/ or physician any treatment deemed necessary for my immediate care. I agree that I will be fully responsible for payment of any and all medical services and treatment rendered to me including but not limited to medical transport, medications, treatment and hospitalization.

Further, I grant permission to all the foregoing to use my name, voice and images of myself in any photographs, motion pictures, results, publications or any other print, videographic or electronic recording of this event for legitimate purposes.

I understand that all events will be held rain or shine and all entry fees are non-refundable. We reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event due to circumstances beyond our control such as a natural disaster or emergency or as required to protect the safety of participants and staff.  No refunds will be issued under these circumstances. We reserve the right to change the details of the event without prior notice. Kids' Activities may be cancelled for inclement weather but kids' race will go forward, rain or shine. No refund or discount if kids' activities are cancelled.  Must be present to collect any T-shirts, prizes or promotional items.
